Over a century of spiritual, support, religious and other service to Ladysmith and area.

St John The Evanglist Anglican Church came to the "instant" town of Ladysmith from Wellington when the town was founded to support coal mining in the Extention and Oyster Bay areas.

Like Ladysmith itself, we've seen many changes over that time, made some good decisions, made a few bad ones and come to understand outselves and what our service to God, Creation and humanity is. We'll make many more mistakes, many good ones and continue walking the path Jesus laid out for us embraced in the Commandment that we love one another understood as the apostles would have understood it to mean Agape, Philia, Storge and Eros as quickly explained by renowned and insightful author C.S. Lewis.

Christians are, above all, human and we make as many mistakes and serious misjudgments as any other person.  We're far from perfect though we seek to learn from God, Jesus, Paul, The Prophets and all the saints who have come before us how to live in harmony with one another and this amazing world and universe all around us.

We have come to understand that Faith and Belief are not static but ever changing things as are we as humans and the creation God blessed us with and which we are charged to be caretakers of.

Feel free join us in our Journey if you are merely curious, looking for a spiritual home or full of doubt.  Most of all those full of doubts and you'll find many of us are too, in the example of St Thomas The Doubter.
